Jaron Putnam Oren Brown Summary Chapter 19

Jaron Putnam Oren Brown Summary Chapter 19

Chapter 19 Summary Oren Brown:

Summary: This chapter talks about the fear that comes from performing. The chapter title is "enigma" because I think it means different things for different people. It is very hard to say what can cause you to not perform well. Brown talks about previous or current events in your life can dictate how well you sing. Someone who experiences a lot of stress can have these problems. It can range from the death of a loved one to having stage fright, but all of these problems need to be handled very delicately. Oren Brown did not have a clear way to get rid of all of these things, but he advises that caution be used.

Key Concept: The enigma is real. Understand that stuff happens. Work to have control over your life, and to not care so much what others think. If you experience tragedy, understand that it will have an effect on your voice, and take some time to heal.

Making Connections: I have definitely allowed my self to care what others think of my performance. It's interesting that Oren Brown mentions A Soprano On Her Head- Maybe I need to go back and read that chapter about facing your judges. I do feel however that this is one area of my singing that seems to be more manageable.
