Summary: As a teacher, what you say may not always make sense to the student. Be aware that every student is different and will have different needs. Sensations can be deceptive, remember to ask the student to explain how they feel things. Keep a history of your students, their medical history, their age, their musical experience etc. Be aware of the student's goals for themselves, if you do not empathize with those objectives, then don't accept the students. Don't be afraid to go slow and steady. Teach because you love it!
Key Concept: Teaching isn't for the faint of heart. Be ready to work with all types of personalities and scenarios.
Connections: I have experienced this some in teaching piano lessons already. You aren't always just working with the student either, in some cases you are working with their parents as well. Each student learns differently so if what you're giving them isn't working, it is your job to find a new way to present it that works for them. If you can't, send them somewhere else.
