- L shaped tone is a good idea to remember. That tone has rich fullness as recognized by my ears, but it doesn't feel fat on the inside.
- "ngngngngngng" at the beginning of a warm up is a good way to coax the sound forward if it's stuck back
- Pretend the tone is going out your nose, but then suck it back into your head.
- The better my sound is, the less I can determine where it is.
- If something is going wrong with the sound, don't immediately jump in to correct it. Let the body figure it out for a while (this can also apply to being a choir teacher)
- high snotty focus and adequate space are not mutually exclusive!!
- A lot of the warm ups we worked on that day were trying to relinquish myself from the tyrant of Register 2. We did this by getting Register 3 lower and lower.
