Ben Shaw – You would think with Ben that he
would need more chiaro, because he’s got a dark voice. However, I believe his singing voice
sounds like his speaking voice, leading me to believe that he has good chiaro
Kaylee Ann Simmons – I really believe that she needs more
of both chiaro and oscuro. I got a
weak sense of both, and neither was farther along than the other.
Mandie Skousen – more oscuro, because I really
like the sound of her voice because it sounds natural speaking like. I sense that she needs more body power,
and that means she would have more oscuro if she got that in line.
Laura Wride – She’s singing in a musical
theatre style, and that’s harder for me judge because I don’t know a lot about
it. I think she might need more
chiaro, because the voice felt ping-less, if that makes sense.
Emily Cottam – She feels generally really well
balanced on both for me. I think
that chiaro can go farther, and oscuro can go deeper. But it sounds nice right now to me! She does have a fast vibrato, which
maybes means that she could use more free flowing air…
Brad Summers – I feel like he was well
balanced….
Bric Slade – I love the lightness of his
voice, I wish we could now add more oscuro without pressure. When he tried to add weight, it was
exactly that, weight. Not space. So he needs more oscuro…
Luke Shephard – such improvement this
semester! Just sayin. But I wish you had more oscuro,
especially on bright vowels such as [i] and [e], and sometimes [a]
Jaron Putnam – he needs more oscuro and
chiaro…..ummm.. but probably more oscuro right now. Really, all these singers need more of both, but it’s a
decision of which one is prudent to work on right now.
Caitlin Craig - she has very little connection to air, so she needs more
oscuro.
Taylee Beckstead - in the higher range, she needs more connection to body and
air, which is oscuro! wooho what
about low range? I feel like it’s well balanced in low range.
Sam Meredith – This one is confusing to me. His tone cuts through, but it
also feel swallowed. So I believe
he needs more chiaro, but possibly teach that through release of restricting
things…
