Jared Daley SOHH Chapter 11
Summary-
I'm certain that we could all be amazing performers with flawless technique if only we didn't have a life to live. We have jobs, classes, family, relationships and on top of that we have our music lives and practicing. We must allow ourselves to be imperfect. We must allow ourselves room to fail and fall flat on our face. it is when we are unafraid of failing that we in fact don't fail. We give ourselves freedom to perform. We need a greater disconnect between practice time and performance time. "the word fail ceases to apply if we know that whether we try something new or practice something old we are merely gaining information"
Key concept- We greatly inhibit ourselves by being afraid to fail. We are guaranteed to fail if we are afraid to do so.
Connection- When I perform I am still thinking about all the things i practiced and trying hard to execute each one. I need to go up and just sing.
