Amber NV chapter 11

NV Chapter 11
Being true to yourself is the key. Pick music that suits your voice, personality and character types. Also, pick things to sing that you like. If you don't like it, that distaste will come across in your performance. Neither an apologetic retiring violet, nor an arrogant schmuck should ye be at an audition; be real, be nice, be appropriate. Stop panicking in "audition mode" and just enjoy it as a performing opportunity.
Five steps for learning repertoire: Study the text, Speak the text, Speak the text in rhythm, Get pitches in your ear, and sing it.
Learn to mark. Remember though that if you are marking with your voice, you should not skimp on the drama and intensity of the role.
Skip the park and bark, you have a story to tell and a role to play.
Do what you need to do to take care of yourself for an optimum performance.
Learn to manage your finances so you don't; starve between jobs.
