Sarah Boucher SS Chapter 12
Chapter Summary: There are many different things that distinguish a professional from an amateur. Knowing your music, being on time, and being willing and open to try suggestions from directors and conductors are some of qualities of true professionals. A very important aspect of this professionalism is knowing who you are and not allowing others to control your decisions. The true key to success in this business is to take responsibility for our voice and make our own decisions.
Key Points:
-Voice teachers need to give their student's the opportunity to make their own decisions.
-When working with difficult people we should ask ourselves "How can I make this a good experience for me and everyone involved?"
-Where we are in business determines how much input we are allowed to give.
Key Terms:
Making Connections: I am so guilty of not taking responsibility for my voice! This chapter made me realize how lame that is! I have been trying to be better at this and I have made small strides but I need to be more conscious of it! No excuses anymore!!!
