Summary: In all our endeavors as singers we should always remember to be true to ourselves. We must be careful not to allow others to label our voices and we should not label ourselves. Labeling only puts restrictions on us and you never know what's possible until you try. Often times professionals will have an idea in their mind about what a certain aria or role should sound like but you just might change their perception of that.
Before a performance we should visualize the physical atmosphere of the space, each piece we will sing and sing through them mentally remembering what it is like to sing freely. In auditions you should be moderate, not over the top or apologetic about being there. When learning, study the text, speak the text, speak text in rhythm, get the pitches in your ear and finally SING IT!
Key Concept: Be true to you. Understand there are limitless possibilities. Be confident and others will see it too. Be organized in your life matters and finances so that there is minimal stress to mess up your singing.
Key Terms: "fach"
Connections: I like most this concept of not limiting yourself be labeling yourself. There are innumerable opportunities out there. We shouldn't say we are incapable of anything but rather acknowledge that the possibilities are endless.
