Brooke's SS Chapter 7 Summary
This chapter talked about the invention of spontaneous Combustion. It deals with the beginning of the sound which is called the onset. It requires vulnerability and openness in that moment. We have to be willing to fail in order to succeed. The exercise he gives with this is the five detached [ɑ] sung on the same pitch with a glottal onset. "the purpose of this invention is to learn to phonate so that the entire spectrum of sound is healthily present from the first millisecond". This exercise should be done in the middle range and only go about an octave. Then he talked about the magic of the [ɑ] vowel. it can be used in all of the inventions we have learned so far.
