Sam Meredith Rob O Lesson Plan for 2/18/14
Rob's primary long term goal is gain more confidence in himself as a singer. My short term goals to be accomplished in this lesson are to improve his posture and to help him have some good experiences with tension free exercise of the cricothyroid muscle. I want to do an exercise with him that will help him improve his body map. I'm going to have him get in good singing posture and look in the mirror so he can recognize where everything is. Then, I'm going to have him close his eyes and make adjustments if he feels they are necessary as I tell him some important facts about the body. To achieve my other goal I have some vocalizes planned. I want to have him do some lip buzzes (or trilled Rs--whichever works best) and move his voice up and down in sort of a siren pattern. I think it will be good for him to try and make a good, smooth transition from full voice, to falsetto, and back again. I also want to just have him do some descending scales purely in falsetto to give his cricothyroid some good exercise. Hopefully the sound of the exercise will be better than it as in the past as a result of his improved body map.
