Emily C., Amanda G., Lesson Plan for 2/27/14
Plans:
- Dang. I forgot to go over Primal Sound with her. I think it’ll really help with her “shallow singing” problem.
- I want to try “speaking to your mom in the other room” thing to get her to focus her sound more.
- Dancing crazy or something to get her body more involved will be good. Dog panting perhaps as well for her breath engagement. I also liked the feeling of anticipation before singing.
- I want to use more of the back consonants (g, ng, k, etc.) to help her loosen the back of her tongue for singing.
- I’ll try putting more focus more on legato rather than swoopiness for her piece.
Goals:
- Short:
- I want to help her loosen the root of tongue tension that she has.
- I want to help her add more focus to her tone.
- Long: I would like her to become more sensitive to her music—noticing where the “give and take” moments are in the music so she’s not pushing throughout the entire piece to give it more variability/musical interest as well as make it easier on her voice.
