Brooke's SOHH Chapter 11 Summary-
Life can overwhelm us to the point that we don't have enough hours in the day to do everything that "needs" to be done. We feel a need not to let others down so we let ourselves down in the process. We see with Cecily that all she needed to do was let her frustration out to figure out her priorities. If we give ourselves permission to make horrible sounds or not do everything to perfection it actually gives us the freedom to become better.
Key Concepts- If we don't attach labels to our singing then we are in the mind set to become better.
Key Terms- Failure, labels
Connection- When Thomas Glenn was here my first lesson with him we had a talk about right and wrong. In this LDS culture we are constantly bombarded with this is right and this is wrong. So I adopted the same thing in my singing. I was so afraid that I would make a mistake that I would tense up and automatically make it sound worse. But then Thomas told me to not care to just sing and he would do the work to find out what went wrong.
