Sarah Boucher VRH Critiques 11/21
Emily Cottam: Emily sings this song very well. I noticed that she took the critiques from Opera that she got on Tuesday and really implemented them. Something I noticed this time that I haven't before was that her arms were held in in front of her body instead of by her sides. Her tone was very nice and evenly balance. I noticed that the wobble in her voice is gone, I know she has been working on that :)! She had some extraneous body movements that moved to the beat to the music, particularly in her neck and head that were a bit distracting. The emotion was well thought out and very convincing.
Brad Summers: Brad's tone is very rich and warm. I felt like his tone was more chiaro then I have heard it before. It was nice that it had a little bit more presence and wasn't so far back. He did well with the low notes and the fioratura passage as the end of the slow section. I would have liked to see more difference between the slow section and the fast, he definitely changed but I think more of a contrast would be nice. He has a tendency to edge forward as he sings, I think staying stationary would be very beneficial for him. He seemed to have a little bit on tension in his neck and shoulders.
