Elizabeth Tait OB Ch. 9 Summary

Summary: The muscles of the larynx are very delicate, and therefore much be treated with extreme care.  Overuse of the voice can strain it forever.  Do not assign a piece that is too difficult to too young of a singer.  However, many principles that you would teach an adult can also apply to a young singer (not relying on your own ears, good posture, don't push, use high voice, etc.)  With proper exercise, the voice will grow over time, but you cannot push it to grow faster.  Basically, don't try to do anything too much, too soon!
Key Terms:
wobble
Key Concepts: With voice training, slower is better.  In teaching children and adults, although their voices are different, a lot of the concept that need to be taught are the same.
Making Connection: I was really glad to read about the causes of the wobble.  I've been hearing that wobble in voices recently, and I was wondering what caused it, and how to address it.  Apparently, it's jush a pushing of the voice.
