Mariah VRH 11/21

Mariah VRH 11/21
Jackson Simmons: Jackson had a bright, confident timbre and fun expression. His eyes tended to wander. In the beginning especially, they moved from side to side a lot. They were also got very wide at times that didn't make sense with the expression. Having a specific image in mind would help with both of these things. For diction, I understood every word. He had a little too much "uh" in the words "door" and "oh". He seemed very tense, especially in his hands and neck. He had nice posture but bucket breathing. Overall, it was fun and he has a great voice; he just needs to relax.
Bric Slade: Bric had amazing expression. His expression was great throughout but wasn't quite as strong in the middle as in the beginning. His expression was even better in the interludes which was great because most people lose their expression during interludes. He could hold his focal points a little longer. His focus bounced around a little. The very end could have more expression to create a strong finish. Bric's timbre was mostly light but at times when he sang louder or lower, it was richer. This performance was really fun to watch.
Brooke Myers: Brooke has a full, rich timbre. Her high notes were just amazing. She could relax her arms and shoulders. It looked like she was pulling her shoulders back and holding her arms out. She could drop her jaw and round her vowels more on [I] vowels, particular like in "in" and "bis." She could open her mouth a little more on quieter, lower parts. She had the rhythm some times she thought she didn't. Overall, Brooke has a great sound; she just needs to be confident and keep going.
Emily Cottam: Emily had a free and mature timbre. She could let her hands and arms rest at her sides more often. There was a little shoulder breathing and she tended to sway her head for some note changes. The diction was not very clear. There was too much of an "oh" sound instead of "ah" in the word "lost" in particular. She had a great sound on this song; she just needs to work to make the diction more clear.
