Caitlin Craig April Lesson Plan for 4/5/14

Student: April
Date: 4/5/14

Short-term goals: Find release in tongue, jaw, and a-o joint.
Long-term goal: Find release and happiness in singing so that when we think pitch,

Plan of action: I would like to try singing some music today, because we have worked on learning to read music quite a bit and I think it would be a great idea to implement not only the things that she's learned about singing, but also the things she's learned about how music works.
I know that her jaw and tongue are often times a problem, so I would like to explain how her jaw should open up correctly, and also work on some releasing of the tongue exercises, maybe work with some brighter vowels for a released tongue posture. I also want to work on finding a better connection with her child-like voice. Pitch matching will also be something that I will be looking for. I think I'm going to ask her try to "think really hard about the pitch", and see if this helps.

Stretch tongue out
"ng" downward sigh then move to 54321
Dove sounds
slow/silent breath of surprise
speech to singing exercise--vampire speech to loosen the jaw, glinda the good witch to encourage her child-like voice. Then translate that to 8531
[u]8-5-3-[a]-1--light and easy and then on 1 full voice.
Finish by practicing using the genius, and dumb jaw, with a released tongue posture to sing through a hymn of her choice.
