Sarah Boucher Kathy SUPERVISED Lesson Plan for 4/22

Plan:
-Stretch
-Vocalize: focus on low laryngeal position (maybe do some oo to ee or 5,4,3,2,1) and release of the jaw ("fwa")
-Work on song

Goals:
Long-
1. Free her sound. I know there is constriction somewhere that makes her voice sound harsher but I can't figure out where. I want to keep experimenting to figure out where the constriction is so I can in turn free her sound.
Short-
1. Find jaw release and be able to keep it. I have tried a few jaw things with her that haven't quite worked yet. I think it is because her head is still not staying balanced so I want to monitor that and the jaw. I plan to try a few more jaw release things with her like what we talked about in class today (the head gear, putting her finger on the roof of the mouth, having her bite her knuckles etc.) For whatever, I try though I need to make sure that she keeps her A-O joint balanced.
2. I want to promote Kathy's internal model by asking her more questions. I need to have her assess herself more. I often get short answers from her and I think I could do better at asking questions that would help her think. I need to also warn her of the questions I am going to ask before the fact so she can focus on them as she is singing and find the answer. I want her to recognize what is happening in her body when she sings.
