Today I came into my lesson feeling more tense then usual. Brianna noticed right away and we worked a lot on losing up and not letting my neck stay so stiff. As we started to go through some skills, we noticed that my vibrato was not being consistent from the top to the bottom of the scale. As I came down to the bottom note on the descending skills, I imagined in my mind continuing to go up and down the scale. This really helped to keep the vibrato in a brighter and more natural place, as well as improving my pitch. When going through one of my pieces, I was having a difficult time getting the breath support that I needed throughout each phrase. Brianna had me pantomime doing monkey grunts in my lower body throughout each phrase. This created the support and energy that I needed. Overall, I need to work on keeping my vibrato consistent, keeping up the energy in my body, and focusing on getting rid of the tensions in my body.
