Ristad talks about how when we become too focused on placing each foot exactly where it needs to go we can't be aware of our surroundings and how we need to adjust to each new situation. We over do a lot of things leading us to miss the point or our target. We also miss the fun and beauty in the process of what we are doing when we become so focused. There needs to be a balance of focus and a partnership between the body and the mind. We also don't need to be discriminate of what we need to remember because the mind will automatically do it if we don't try and force it to remember.
Key Concepts:
Don't force your mind to remember things.
Over doing can be almost as bad as not doing something at all.
Key Words:
Over-look
Automatic
Adusted/Adjusted (pg. 82)
Connections:
This chapter goes hand in hand with the last chapter. you need balance in order to progress. finding the balance is the tricky part. I definately fall into the habit of over-thinking/over-looking things. Especially with my memorization. I try to cram it all into my head and tell my brain you'll remember this or die and my brain usually picks the second option.
