Sarah Boucher's ER Chapter 6 Summary
Chapter Summary: Everyone has their share of difficulties and a set of strengths and weaknesses. Our weaknesses don't have to cripple us, we can turn them into strengths if we are willing to explore different ways to overcome them. Sometimes it takes a fresh perspective and a willingness to try, like when Ristad had her students juggle and it helped their sight reading.
Key Points:
-Often our strengths are what cause our weaknesses.
-Just because it is a weakness that does not mean that it cannot be fixed!
Key Terms:
Making Connections: This chapter encourages me to seek a different understanding of my weaknesses. To have an inside out understanding of what is contributing to my weaknesses and to experiment with different ways to help them. Ristad often says that she doesn't know why she felt encouraged to try something with a student, most of the times it seems like she gets her ideas on a whim and they end up working. I want to be willing to experiment and find new ways to improve my weakness. Who knows, maybe I will even try juggling.....?
