Sarah Boucher ER Chapter 5 Summary

Sarah Boucher ER Chapter 5 Summary
Chapter Summary: Too often, students don't excel in lessons because they feel stupid when they don't understand. Teachers need to figure out what learning style their students have in order to adequately instruct them. Parents should carefully seek out teachers that fit to their child's learning styles, so they can enjoy lessons and not feel stupid when they don't understand.
Key Points:
-If a student doesn't understand something it doesn't mean that they aren't capable, it just means that the teacher needs to try a new approach.
Key Terms:
Making Connections: I really identified with this chapter. I can't tell you how often I have felt stupid for not understanding something. As I have gotten older, I have learned that I am capable of understanding but that sometimes I may need to look at things differently than my fellow students. This chapter is a good reminder that we all learn differently and that as a teacher it will be my job to find methods of teaching that work for each of my students. I don't want my students to feel stupid if they don't understand.
