Chapter Summary: Each voice has their own unique range. There are four main
registers of the voice. Although there are different registers, it is also
important to have them blend. Register 1 can be associated with the speaking
voice and is the lowest, register 2 is used for a mixture of singing and
speaking; it is also low, register 3 is high; mainly for falsetto, and lastly
register 4, is very high for women and children and can be related to the
whistle or flute sound. The voice should be exercised every day. It needs to go
through multiple stages with patience and self-discipline in order to develop
healthy techniques.
Key concept: Vocal ranges take time and patience to develop.
It is important to exercise the voice everyday to gently work through its
different stages.
Key Terms: registers, exercises, register adjustment
Connection: It is interesting to learn about the different
registers of the voice . I constantly work on having my top register come down
to my middle one. This chapter gave me a better understanding of how the
registers are divided.
