Shalayna G. DYV 7

Chapter Summary: Singers are athletes. We need to gain the skill of agility in order to master fast runs and skips. When trying to sing the coloratura style, the throat must be free of all tension. Our goal for singing coloratura is having the notes light and loose and eventually our bodies will produce the tones for us. Coloratura singing requires that every note is coming from above the pitch and has its own color. The power of the voice comes from good resonance.
Key Concept: Patience and flexibility correlate with the agility of coloratura singing.
Key Terms: coloratura, activation threshold, agility

Connection: I like the idea of having each note being its own color. A lot of the times I blend my notes together, making what I’m singing unclear. I would like to try more coloratura singing because I know it will be a challenge for me. I think my biggest challenge would be cutting out the “h” in between my notes.
