Emily F. OB 13

Emily F. OB 13: Brown has a list of fifteen factors for success in a singing career: voice, technique, flair and poise, interpretive ability, musicianship and musicality, physical appearance, stage personality, ability to handle people on and off stage, basic repertoire, reliability and dependability, experience, love for the art, physical and emotional health, efficient management and publicity, and timing. There are too many things to consider to think that the voice alone can make a career.
Key concept:  It takes a lot of work, dedication, discipline, skill, and drive to be a professional singer.
Making connections: As I look at this list, I see strengths and weaknesses in myself. My work ethic and commitment are on my side, but physical appearance, experience, and technique are all pretty weak. Fortunately, many of the things that I lack are things that I can strengthen as I practice and grow.
