Summary: Healthy singing requires a return to primal sounds, which are ones that we make involuntarily based on the emotions we deeply feel. Such primal sounds are a baby's cry, a sob, a reaction to a surprise, etc. These sounds occur without us doing anything, but are the result of a thought. Healthy singing should be the same: triggered by thought alone. Connecting the primal sound in our practice will not only increase the effectiveness of our voice, but is the only way to create an emotional connection to the audience.
