Chapter 14 Summary-The goal of every singer is to be successful, but it is important that every singer have a proper perception of what success really is. We shouldn't have a specific expectation of what the results of success are. If we do we will be disappointed in the end. Success, in the end, simply means finding and following your passion. Anyone, therefore, can be successful regardless of how much money they earn or how famous they become. We should simply be committed to being ourselves and continually improving in a way that doesn't invite an attitude of trying to imitate other singers.
Key Concept- True success doesn't necessarily imply making a lot of money or becoming famous. True success can come in many forms and comes naturally when a singer follows their passion. Nobody should focus their practice and development on trying to become somebody else. Instead their focus should be continually improving and becoming a better version of themselves.
Key Terms-Success, Authenticity
Making Connections- I need to be careful about comparing myself to others. I also need to stop trying to sound like someone else and just discover my true authentic voice. I think I also just need to be more patient with myself.
