Mariah SS 14

Mariah SS 14
Chapter Summary: Success means something different to each person. Some think money and fame are equal to success, but true success is when the person is happy and continually improving. Great singers often make their way because they are unique and authentic. Singers should stop trying to force their voice to sound like what they think it should sound like and let it be what it is. Once they do this, they can understand where they are now and work with their voice to make it better. Singers need to stop focusing so much on the praise of others and rely more on the joy they get from singing. When we focus on what we shouldn't do, we will end up doing it. But if we focus on what we should do, things start to change.
Key Concept: "If we aren't enjoying the journey, we are not likely to enjoy the destination."
Key Terms: success
Making Connections: I need to be more honest about where I am vocally and stop trying to force myself to sound better. I need to recognize my weaknesses and gently work to fix them but also keep my own naked voice in the process.
