Laura B. MC 11/5

Laura B
Brad Summers: Great energy in the voice and the body. He also had great breath support throughout the body. I felt like his diction was very good, but he might have been using his jaw too much to get the words and chewing on the words out. I could tell that it was an upbeat and happy song, but I couldn't tell what he was exactly saying. Cindy worked with helping express the meaning of the words. When he had more intentional thought, his timbre and presence improved a lot. The more he was doing motions with his lyrics, the more his voice freed up. He was such a wonderful and pleasant voice to listen to and the suggestions given to him will help him to have a better stage presence that in turn will also make his singing improve as well.
Luke Shepard: Beautiful introduction notes, which is hard with how vulnerable they are. Great expression, but could have been a more specific mood change between the high and the low sections as the song. I was a little confused as if they were two different characters or not. I caught on in the middle of the song. With Cindy, he worked a lot on figuring out how to transition between the two characters and how to express that best to the audience. What a difficult challenge for Luke, but I know that he's going to figure out how to do it. Overall, I think that he's almost there expressively, and he sings it beautifully. As he connects more deeply on a personal level, he'll get it.
Sam Meredith: In the lower parts of the song, he had used a beautiful and rich vibrato, but we lost the vibrato on the high parts. He seemed a lot more released in this part. He was doing a weird shifting sideways left to right that was slightly distracting. Cindy worked helping him be rhythmic so that the accompanist isn't dragging him along. When he sings with more rhythmic integrity, much more life came into the piece.
