Emily F. lesson 11/12

Emily F. lesson 11/12: What a relief to be done with my recital! It made my lesson fun today. I had warmed up a little, but I didn't end up doing much singing. We discussed how the recital went, good and bad. Mostly I feel really proud of myself. I really tried to "take the trip". I wasn't successful all of the time, but I really made the effort to experience and enjoy the moment, and this was a big accomplishment for me! And I've never sung so much in front of so many people before. Hooray for me! We jumped right into new repertoire. Laurie brought out new things that I can start working on for next semester and NATS. We were of the same mind with rep that will be a stretch for me. This is good. I've mostly stayed with safe things that I love, but I know I need to do some new things that I haven't tried. I'll be looking at a couple of challenging Mozart arias, as well as some more French pieces. This was my second to last lesson of the semester, so this week my practice will be mostly devoted to listening to find music to sing for next semester, and choosing a good mix of pieces. Next week I'd like to have chosen at least two pieces that I can start learning over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
