Brad Summers: I saw a lot of swaying during his performance. I sensed that the song was a happy one, but I didn't understand what he was trying to convey. His expression lacked specificity. There were some diction problems: I heard some rolled r's in the german, and the e's on the endings of words are always a schwa sound, rather than the closed e in italian. His sound and focus in expression improved when he focused on really telling the story and staying grounded. I would like him to discover inside the music what kind of gestures would be appropriate for his character and then implement them into his performance.
Luke Shepherd: I saw that he was trying to be specific in his expression, but I didn't understand that he was convey two different people (probably cause I was writing...sorry!). He had a lot of success in his breath. I saw low and quiet breaths, which really helped the timbre remain less breathy. I think he needs to sit down with his music and find how he himself can relate to the characters and then use those ideas in his performance. This will make it more sincere, and probably more obvious that he is convey two separate characters.
Samuel Meredith: Sam's neck was much more released and there was a release in his breath and sound. Overall much improvement in that regard. The one thing I didn't sense was a shape in his phrasing, or the legato line throughout. I think this sensation would help maintain energy through the long french phrases. Cindy worked with him on spontaneous combustion and rhythmic integrity, which I think will be helpful in maintaining the authenticity of the language.
