Sam Meredith Lesson Summary 1/7

I think I could have been a little more well prepared for my lesson today. I think I could have done more thinking beforehand about what kind of repertoire I wanted to sing this semester. I had a few ideas, but I think I would like to come with more in the future. Thankfully, Cindy and I were able to come up with some really good ideas regarding what songs I'll perform this semester. I'm really excited about some of the songs we selected. We looked at a couple of French songs, which I think will be good for me since I think my French needs a lot of improvement and I'm taking French diction this semester so that will work nicely. We also looked at a Mozart aria that I think will really help me develop more freedom in my voice. Mastery of the songs we selected is going to take a lot of awareness on my part and will require some definite (but achievable) improvement. My goal for this next week and for the entire semester is to practice my repertoire intelligently. I want to master individual facets of each song before I try and add more layers to the song so I won't develop habits that will give me problems later when the time to perform comes.
