12:00-12:10 --> I want to review our laying down exercises, just so we can reestablish good posture before we start singing. I also think we'll review the breathing exercises that bring awareness to expansion in the lower back and do other good things (I'll try leaning over the chair, silent cackle while breathing in and out, pleasant surprise breath in the nose.)
12:10-12:20 --> This will be vocalization time. My goal is to work on transitioning his high register and low register smoothly. I'm just going to list some exercises that could help, and pick and choose as the lesson goes along:
- "show me" starting on a yawn feeling, and transitioning into the darker at the bottom of the octave arpeggio or an octave downward scale.
- Downward octave arpeggio on [u u u a], transitioning to the darker sound at the bottom
- [e de be de e de be de e] going up and down a 5 note scale. This is practicing keeping the light sound at the top and the dark sound at the bottom.
- Wobble exercises from Stephen Smith
12:20-12:30 --> Go to one of his pieces, and try to apply the knowledge when gained in vocalization.
I hope to be able to make him more aware of transitioning the light voice and heavier voice.
