Sam Meredith Anna O Lesson Plan for Jan 23

I want to talk with Anna today in our lesson about proper preparation for singing. I want to talk to her about how singing is a full body exercise and that our whole body needs to feel released in order for us to sing our best. One of my short term goals for this lesson, therefore, is to show her some exercises for release that she can do on her own before she sings. I want to show her some things that she can do to find healthy posture and also release tension in her jaw and neck. The other goal I have for this lesson is to teach her about good breathing technique and at least ensure that she knows what she needs to do in order to breath properly for singing. Other thing I want to do in this lesson are vocalizes that will help us eventually find a good chiaroscuro quality in her voice. I want to do some speech like exercises low in her range and then do some exercises such as yawning to help her find easy access to her upper range. I also want to find out how she does at navigating the transition from her head voice to her chest voice.
