Emily F. Sarah F. lesson plan for 1/9

Emily F. Sarah F. lesson plan for 1/9: Sarah is my daughter, so I know a lot about her voice and her life. I will still ask some of the questions that we talked about in class, such as: what her goals are, what she thinks her vocal problems are, and what kinds of things she'd like to learn. I plan on listening to her sing a whole piece, likely a hymn. Then we'll do some vocalizes, focusing mainly on primal sounds. I'd like to work with her on some breathing and body exercises. Long-term goal: help Sarah have a more speech-like, natural sound to her singing. She has copied me some and I haven't been the best model for her. My faults of over-dramatizing my voice and swallowing my sound are showing up in my daughter, and my voice is much more mature than hers, so when she tries to model me she's using an unnaturally grown-up sound. Short-term goals: help Sarah learn a few vocalizes that she can practice on her own; help her with accuracy in pitch matching. The exercises I'd like Sarah to practice on her own would be some primal sounds and panting alternating with vocalizing. To help Sarah with accuracy of pitch I will encourage her to think pitch before singing and maybe do some interval exercises.
