Elizabeth Tait SS Ch. 14 Summary

Summary: Success is not certain prominence in the opera world.  Success is discovering what makes you truly happy and having the courage to stick it out to end.  Successful never arrive; they are constantly seeking ways to improve.  Most importantly, successful people are themselves.
Key Terms: not really applicable?
Key Concepts: Screw it, I'm skipping this part!
Making Connections: There were many things said by the students of Smith that I really connected with.  Leah Tsamous said, "Being on an even keel is much easier than being manic."  I find that to be something I've learned through singing as well.  Although sometimes being manic, in life or singing, is tempting, being balanced is always better.  Matthew Morris said, "My friends say that I'm so much more dependable and emotionally available than ever before."  Again, I've had a similar transformation!  I can see that singing has helped me be at peach with me; with that that strength, I can then reach out to help others when I couldn't before.  Tiffany Jackson, "Ultimately, singing is not something I chose; it chose me."  Seriously!  People ask me how I decided I wanted to sing, and I can't answer them.  But I realize God has lead me this way to learn these truths through singing.  So next time someone asks me that question, I will just answer, "The Lord brought me here!"
