Bric Slade Partner Practice 10/31/13

Today me and laekin practiced. I caught her at the tail end of her practice with her accompanist so I was able to hear the piece as a whole she was working on. I found that this made critiquing her a lot easier. She sang all of her pieces very well. The air was free and flowing. She had for the most part the expression down. There were some onset issues with some of her songs that I noted that could happen more smoothly. I sang my song and she mentioned that I sounded a lot more free than I usually do in the throat. There were still times I could improve on this but for the most part it was very expressive and free. I feel that this was on account of me focusing more on the expression than MAKEING my tongue relax. I found in my lesson today that when I MAKE things happen, for the most part I MAKE bad things happen. I just need to notice correct things and allow them to happen naturally. When I focus on my expression it feels a lot easier just to let things happen.
