SOHH Chapter 14
Summary:
No one wants to
fail. Especially Musicians whose craft is based entirely on performing for
others. What this chapter teaches is the need to let go of stress that comes
from failed performance. We have to let bad performances just roll off our
back. If we don't it can eat inside of us, and stop us from moving forward.
That is the worst possible thing that could happen. We need to fight those
urges, and realize what we did wrong, and work at it to fix it. Not in a
stressful, ridiculous way. But just work on it and fix it.
Key Concept: Don't
stress about failure. Realize that it is part of the gig, and move on.
Key Terms: Flop?
Making Connections:
Failure is something I need to work and feel like I have had to deal with. Most
performances rarely go 100% the way I want them to… I need to learn that that
is natural, and just move forward and work on things that I need to work on rather
than being stressed by a poor performance.
