Luke Shepherd SS Chapter 5

Chapter Summary: Constant and generous airflow allows for the isolation of the oscuro part of our sound. A bigger sound doesn't equate to using intense muscular effort but it relates to the free flow of air. The more free and consistent our airflow the less muscular effort is required and we can achieve our most beautiful and biggest sound. By taking the vocalis muscle out of the equation in this invention we are able to isolate just the flow of air especially to the back and high spaces in our head.
Key Concept: Free and constant airflow is the key to having a resonant, oscuro sound.
Key Terms: Falsetto
Downward Sigh
Siren
Making Connections: I sympathized with that tenor in the chapter who said he had no falsetto. I used to have a killer high falsetto but almost overnight it disappeared during my teenage years and I haven't ever felt like I've had a real falsetto since. That's probably because my voice changed and I needed to learn how to use the new space and new instrument that I'd grown into. I struggled with this invention, I'll need to spend much more time on it.
