Shalayna G. NV Intro.

Chapter Summary: Singers must reveal themselves vocally, emotionally, and physically to accomplish authenticity. Smith expresses the connection between the singers and how their bodies react to singing. In order for the audience to connect with the singer, the singer must uncover themselves to make the connection authentic. To uncover oneself, is to go back to the process of finding our true identity. This process helps us questions our values and what simply works, as well as what doesn't.
Key Concept: It takes time to be authentic.
Key Terms: Authenticity
Connection: I think this book will help me think of singing as different parts of my being working together rather than looking at sing as one concept. I agreed with the mind, body , and spirit coming together in order to work with one another to produce authentic sound. I do accept my gift for what it is but I think is much deeper than. This section made me think about how my voice connects with all parts of me.
