Practice was awesome!!! Ben worked a lot on letting the sound come out without his muscles engaged to push the sound out. Ben was also having a hard time with dynamic contrast. I had him speak like he normally would speak to people then talk quieter until he was whispering then louder until he was shouting. I had him try to describe what he did that was different to get the different dynamics. He mostly told me what wasn’t different. He wasn’t giving more air for loud than soft. He wasn’t changing the shape of his words except to open moth a little wider maybe when shouting. He learned through this experiment that we keep a constant flow of air with loud and quiet dynamics. I worked on memorization. I sang The Daisies, I just need to clear up some cut offs at the end of phrases. And then the the minor 7th leap always gets me. I don’t go quite low enough. The rest of the song is fine.
