Sarah Boucher ER Chapter 11 Summary

Sarah Boucher ER Chapter 11 Summary
Chapter Summary: Allowing ourselves to fail is a necessary part of growth and learning. If we focus on the "shoulds" and allow our judges to convince us we are not good enough we will not be able to find success. Letting go and allowing ourselves to fail is the key to rebelling against our judges and overcoming them.
Key Points:
-We should focus on gaining information, not whether we are going to fail or not.
-Giving our selves permission to fail frees us to become childlike and to see things with awareness and clarity. (pg.143)
-Failing=LEARNING.
Key Terms:
Making Connections: I loved this chapter! Failure is something that I fought for a very long time. I have found that I have made so much more progress in my singing now that I have been fighting my judges and allowing myself to fail miserably. Like Cindy says "No one died', and that is my motto recently. I want to apply this to my teaching by creating a trusting and comfortable environment where my students will not fear failure!
