Chapter Summary: This chapter was all about the power of visualization. When you practice a passage mentally, you are able to work the muscle memory that is involved, but without tiring the muscles themselves. Visualization is different that just thinking about the passage. Thinking is passive, while visualization is active taking your mind of every step of the process. Accurate visualization leads surprisingly often to accurate performance. Visualization is also a good memory test. If you truly don't know a section, it will be glaringly obvious in a visualization exercise. A healthy mix of both visualization and traditional practice can greatly enhance the effectiveness of your practice time.
Key Concepts: Visualization is just as helpful, if not more helpful than practice using your muscles.
Key Terms: visualization (is that really the appropriate word?)
Making Connections: I can connect to this chapter, because when I feel that I am singing correctly, it's a full partnership of body and mind. Visualization is a good way to involve both body and mind. I dig it!
