Mariah ER 11

Mariah ER 11
Chapter Summary: When we try to be "super-persons" and never make a mistake, we get so worked up that we make more mistakes than we would if we weren't so focused on being perfect. We spend so much time trying to convince others of our skill, that we use more energy to fake our perfection than working to solve the problems. We need to give ourselves permission to fail. If we do this, we will be much more relaxed and be able to accomplish our goal in a more efficient and enjoyable manner. Instead of focusing on getting it right, we need to be more aware of what is actually happening and take in this information. Information is useful; driving ourselves to be perfect is not. If we let go of concentrating so hard on what we should do, we can direct our attention more to what we are working on in that moment.
Key Concept: We need to allow ourselves to make mistakes and be aware of when they are happening so that we can work to fix them.
Key Terms:
Making Connections: I need to find a way to give myself permission to not be perfect. I work so hard to get it right and hit those notes that when I don't sing it well, I focus more on the failure than being ignited to work on those sections more.
