Mariah ER 9

Mariah ER
Chapter Summary: Visualizing and using a feeling sense allows us to imagine the experience and understand it more fully. When you are feeling the visual instead of just seeing it, you can find what muscles you use and let go of the ones not needed. Visualizing also helps you be aware of which parts of the song you don't know as well as you thought you did. You need to visualize your song how you want it to sound. If you picture it weak and off-pitch, that will be how it sounds when you sing it, but if you visualize a beautiful, technically correct performance, you will be more on your way to that goal. If you visualize and feel it correctly more often, your body will be more willing to follow those promptings. You need to allow your muscles to change their old, bad habits.
Key Concept: Having a feeling sense while visualizing can help you feel where you need to improve in a piece of music and aid you to change your muscle movements to allow you to do so.
Key Terms: feeling sense, preplay
Making Connections: I need to remember to always visualize myself singing the song correctly. Sometimes I get worried and somewhat unconsciously imagining myself messing up the song while performing. Also, when I visualize, it can really help me know which parts of the song I don't know as well.
