Mariah ER 10
Chapter Summary: When we hold on to all of the different techniques we learn to achieve a certain aspect of a skill, sometimes they can contradict each other and leave us more confused than before. We need to focus on which exercises and methods of accomplishing a certain task suit us best individually. When we focus too much on what is right and what is wrong, we lose our sense of feeling what truly is working best for us. Finding what works best for us through our own experiences allows us to trust these methods more and tailor them to our needs. We cannot rely on other people to tell us the best way to do something; we need to discover our correct way for ourselves.
Key Concept: We need to decide for ourselves which techniques work the best for us by exploring different methods and keeping the ones we find useful.
Key Terms: "rule"
Making Connections: I need to remember there is not one set way of reaching a goal in singing. I need to explore with different techniques in practice and pay more attention to which methods are helping me and which are not.
