Chapter Summary: Improvisation allows performers to connect with their emotions and be more spontaneous and free. They can express their internal dialogue through their instrument without restrictions or fear of judgment because in improvisation there are no wrong notes. Improvising helps us connect with the world around us and apply it to our music. Focusing on a color or image while improvising can add depth and interesting twists to the sound. Practicing in an improvisation mode helps us to link this raw energy to our structured performance to give life to the piece.
