Luke Shepherd SS Chapter Summary Introduction

Chapter Summary: This author spoke to me in the introduction. Being who you are and not anyone else is a constant battle in my life and I've had bouts with my own identity. Stripping myself bare to examine myself without regard to any dogma or social pressure or expectation is ground where I still fear to tread but it's in my sights. Of course I'm affected by what I hear and see from my peers and what I think is expected of me. The pursuit of authenticity and being open, free, 'naked' in a way, makes absolute sense when I think about learning the voice.
Key Concept:  Everyone has a different voice because everyone is different. Everyone has a different path, consequently.
Key Terms: Authenticity
Naked
Making Connections: I am my own worst enemy. I get in my own way and I think that I try to sound like other people or the people around me. I don't necessarily accept or explore my own voice or where it authentically and naturally would go. I feel like I'm supposed to sing in a certain way or that people expect me to sound like a certain singer. In talking exclusively about voice I feel very covered and not free.
