Summary: We have to stop trying to be perfect and GET REAL! We must give ourselves permission to be imperfect and that act alone releases us from pressure which keeps us from giving our best. When we are so afraid of the mistakes we might make and the criticism we might receive we are tying ourselves up in knots over something that hasn't even happened! This results in getting up to perform already tied in knots that we created ourselves. Our "shoulds" will never go away and so we must learn to let some of them go before they eat us alive.
Key Concept: Shut off your inner judge telling you that you have to be perfect at everything. Be aware of all of the things on your plate but be real about what you expect from yourself. Most importantly, don't let your burdens turn into fears that keep you from being successful.
Connections: I tend to be a very anxious person and oftentimes my fears hinder my performances as well as my progress. When I really evaluate my fears though, I find that they aren't very realistic and I'm letting them trouble me for nothing. I always have to remind myself that it is okay not to be perfect as long as I'm giving my best effort.
