Caitlin Craig Voice Lesson October 3

I prepared for my lesson this week by memorizing like crazy, so I could be ready to sing most of my songs at my lesson.  I also practiced falling into the pitch, rather than feeling the sensation or resonance inside my body.  I found I had some successful warm-ups, and I was excited to go to voice lessons to see if they really stuck.
Brianna and I started with vocalizes and warm-ups, and I had many which were successful, but I knew I was thinking too much about a few of them.  In an attempt to stop thinking about the placement, Brianna had me think of the resonance out in front of me in a vertical movement (up and down) rather than a lateral movement (forward and back); it was a breakthrough for me.  For some reason it got rid of unwanted tension and freed my voice.
I am excited to continue practicing this way, and it has been coming more naturally, which I am happy about.  My goals this week are to finish memorizing, and keep that sweet spot I found when changing the direction or thought of the resonance space.
