Sarah Gee ER Ch 13

There are a few different ways talked about as to how people could deal with their stage fright. One way was to intensify it until it couldn’t go any further and then it would back off. Another technique described is to pretend to be someone else, a professional and take on the traits that a professional would. Think of nerves as something that is positive and exciting. Then finally release extra tension but don’t put restrictions on what you can do with your energy or lose energy but permit the energy’s use in any way possible, good or bad. Then you can direct the energy to what you need to have done.
Key Concepts:
Don’t tell yourself to relax, that does nothing to help calm nerves..
Key Words:
Intensify
Pretend
Positive view
Discard extra tension
Permission
Connections:
I give myself so many restrictions that I think my body forgets what it can still do and should do. Pretending to be someone else helps me to allow myself to do more things than I would do myself. Pretending indirectly gives permission to do crazy things that I am capable of yet consciously choose not to do from day to day.
